Victory Fields

For Victory Fields second workshop Vicki brought her design partner Dom along to do some creative activities.

To begin activating our creative side we started by folding a sheet of A3 paper into 8, and began drawing what first came to mind when Vicki randomly picked a word out a hat. After we filled all 8 boxes we compared the difference between our images and thought about how we made it more precise. After that we tried again with new words but with 1 minute extra time to think about what we are drawing, this created more similarities between our drawings. This activity was brilliant to have a bit of fun with quick thinking helping the creative part of our brain flow. From this activity learned that although living in a similar culture our representation of words can be completely different. This activity helped me think of the different possibilities and outcomes one word can make.

The next activity was to get into groups of 2 and without looking at a sheet of paper draw the other persons face. This activity was helpful for concentration, as I had to focus on the features of my partner and try and line them up without seeing what I have previously sketched. The outcomes were every funny when comparing you could see how hard it is to not use your eyes to locate the points on what I've sketched. After that to make it harder we repeated the process but this time without taking our pen of the paper. I preferred the out come of the first sketching without looking at the paper, but many others preferred sketching without removing there pen. Here is the result of this activity.

After we had opened up the creative side of our brain we looked at some images. One was to do with a current project and one was just an inspiring image. From that we all pitched in and spoke about the images individually, and came up with new ideas for our projects too. This activity was very helpful as we can apply feedback to our current projects.
